Dr. Christopher Rivera holds a certifcation from the American Council on Exercise (ACE) in the areas of Flow (Vinyasa) Yoga and Group Exercise. He also holds a Schwinn Spin Certification. He has taught such classes as Funk Dance, Club Rivera, and fusion courses such as Spin-Yoga. While living in the United States he taught Vinyasa Yoga courses (where the focus is the body flowing through poses) and Hatha Yoga courses (which have a slower, gentler approach to the same movements) in the Princeton, NJ area. He has also taught private sessions in NY, NJ, Delaware, PA, OH, and now in Ankara, Turkey. He also encourages long meditations at the beginning and end of classes--depending on the context. In his professional life, Dr. Rivera holds a Ph.D. from Rutgers University in Cultural Studies. He currently teaching at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey. Throughout the course of his life, he lost over 60 kilograms. As a young person he was inactive, imbalanced, but with exercise and meditation, he began to find a balance between activity, eating, and living a healthy lifestyle.
